[information last update February 2007]
Natnalin Noimai is a photographer,
a co- founder of NATNALIN publishing, and a
co - founder of NATNALIN magazine in 2003.
Up to this date, the magazine has passed the first
half of the 4th year, running issues 34 (February 2007).
NATNALIN magazine emphasizes on fine art photography,
especially street documentary and conceptual works by
both local and international artists/photographers. It's
said to be the only one fine art photography magazine in
Thailand.
Although Natnalin was born a Bangkok native, she grew up
in an out skirt of the city, a combination of traditional
Thai rural life style and city slicker. For the traditional
part, she inherited the idea of family values -- never leave
anyone behind, and also street fighting skills. In the past,
she was known for beating up boys in a bloodbath.
While attending Ransit University (School of Fine and Applied
Arts, Department of Photography), in her 3rd year with GPA 3.00,
she decided to drop out and go to France. There in Paris, she
went to ICART PHOTO, a well known photography school,
working
in Studio Elle as a trainee.
In the year 2000, Silent Skin : Body Deconstruction
series
was won an award in Europeen de la Nu ,Arles, France
-- the only
female photographer in that exhibition, And again in 2002, her
works was selected as a poster for
"Grains de Peau" and exhibited at BEAUX-ARTS
in Paris.
The same year, her new series Fruit, Flora and Things
was selected and published in PHOTO (American PHOTO, French version) Fruit,
Flora and Things was a lighter look at the world.
Philosophical and imaginative, it's about flowers and people,
strangely and beautifully.
In 2005, another new series Women Have No Tit,
this time her works became more political, concerning a
cultural repression that led by civil servants and Thai mass media.
In Thailand, the fascist idea of oppression and culture repression
is not initiated by the government, BUT by the group of powerful
civil servants and so called intellectuals, supported by local medias.
And these are the same group who led the coup in 2006.
The Age of Cultural Repression emerged in full scale in 2005,
and continued on until today, getting worse by the minutes.
Women Have No Tit, the title said it all.
Thai women have no tit, people are not allowed to see them in
any circumstances, can't show them even they are yours. Tits are
terrible things, no matter that children in the past survived
on milk from their mother's tits. For the intellectual-fascists'
mind, tits can not exist. Women's tits are the enemy of the state.
It's an Anti-Human ideology that rules the nation.
The series was exhibited in Milan - Castellanza, Italy (2005),
and published in IL FOTOGRAFO magazine in Italy.
However, on the lighter side
in the same year, she also worked on the series called
"Bad Angel with Flowers" photographs of cute
young girls.
This series was created for the PHOTO-FICTION in which is a
project by another business partner group.
Just lovely, No politics.
The year 2006 was like a vacation time.
She spent her days traveling and in a bike shop.
Her works in 2007, we might expect to see lots of motorcycles
images and bikers. (!!..??)
Bikers with flowers, perhaps.. umm.
